Variable-data printing (VDP) (also known as variable-information printing, VIP, or VI) is a form of on-demand printing in which elements such as text, graphics, and images can be changed from one printed item to the next! All can be done on the fly without stopping or slowing down the printing process.
At Print & Copy Factory, we create highly personalized communications that speak directly to the reader as if they were the only ones receiving the message. Our variable data printing technology is versatile enough to produce any kind of personalized marketing materials, from banquet materials such as name tags and auction forms, to direct mail and letters.
This process is generated from a database, and it uses the fields in the spreadsheet and assigns them to particular areas of the printing piece. The more sophisticated your data, the more fun and creative your ideas can be with this technology. We can swap out photos or even particular individual information for that particular customer. A good example would be a letter requesting a sponsorship or donation, in which it could list what this person donated last year. You can even provide us a database with birthdays on it and each month we can mail out personalized birthday cards to your customers. Microsoft Word’s mail merge feature is a very simple version of this technology.
Variable data printing (VDP) is commonly used for direct marketing and enhanced personalized relationship building products such as thank you cards, invoices, and self-mailers. This technology enables the mass customization of personalized documents as opposed to the conventional “mass-production” of a single document, which takes away the personalization.
